На примере его биографии прослеживаются сложность и противоречивость отношений между Россией и Великобританией в конце XIX - начале XX в., перипетии политических отношений Великобритании с Российской империей, Временным правительством и большевиками.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article represents the biography of George Dobson, one of the first correspondents of The Times newspaper in Russia. His life reconstructed with the use of material from different sources, mainly foreign ones.
