<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article is devoted to the analysis of the history of formation and further lexical and stylistic evolution of the stable word combination bright tomorrow. Based on the data of explanatory dictionaries of the 19–20th centuries and the materials of the official Soviet newspaper “Pravda”, the author considers bright tomorrow as one of Soviet ‘ideologemes’ and a unit of the so-called Newspeak. This verbal formula remains unchanged in the media speech of the first decades of the 21st century is analyzed using materials of the National corpus of the Russian language and the website of the Kommersant publishing house. It is concluded that the set phrase bright tomorrow remains relevant for journalistic text as a means of expression and compact transfer of some complex meaning. The author of the article predicts further application of the collocation bright tomorrow in Russian public speech as a symbol of beautiful but unattainable hopes.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>словосочетание светлое завтра</kwd><kwd>идеологема</kwd><kwd>новояз</kwd><kwd>обыгрывание фразеологизма</kwd><kwd>ирония</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>collocation bright tomorrow</kwd><kwd>ideologema</kwd><kwd>Newspeak</kwd><kwd>expressive use of the idiom</kwd><kwd>irony</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Даль 1978 – Даль В.И.
