Otto von Bismarck. The transformation of memory culture

Abstract
The article considers the transformation of the memory culture of the outstanding politician, diplomat, founder of the German Empire, Otto von Bismarck. Close attention is given to the anniversaries of the politician, which are seen through the prism of actualization and deactualization of his image. It is explained how the communicative memory of Bismarck transformed into myth and becomes the basis for the national identity of the Germans. It is emphasized that the 200th anniversary commemoration was addressed to the history not to the myth. Only social policy of Bismarck remained in the cultural memory.
