Abstract

The article studies the phenomenon of so called “shelved movies”. “Intervention” was supposed to be released by the 50th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. Its filming coincided with tragic events of 1968 in Czechoslovakia. The movie did not pass the barrier of censorship and was shelved for almost 20 years. There is an analysis of Soviet publications before the intended release (in 1967) and after it (in 1987). The article also shows, how it happened that anapology of revolution was seen as practically anti-Soviet piece of art, and how in fact it was achieved.
