Abstract

The article is dedicated to the memory of outstanding Soviet and Russian linguist Yurii Semenovich Martem’yanov who was among the frst who resolutely declared the necessity of fundamental utilization of sense in machine translation. His pioneer works in actual articulation, communicative organization of semantic presentation, deep mechanisms of text generation in many aspects anticipated and even forestalled the current state of linguistic studies. The author tells about his recurring communication with Yu.S. Martem’yanov during almost 33 years.
