M.N. Katkov in the Russian journalism of the 2nd half of the 19th century

Abstract

The article deals with the publicistic position of the famous Russian journalist M.N. Katkov. The author analyzed the evolution of Katkov’s views on the situation in Russia and comes to the conclusion that throughout his creative career Katkov was always a supporter of a strong monarchical power in Russia, which preserves civil rights and freedom of the press.
