Abstract

The article deals with the current state of game journalism, i.e. journalism related to video games. The author of the article discusses how game journalism uses various channels and platforms to communicate with the audience and provide its own content. The main part of the article analyzes the peculiarities of the review genre in video game journalism. Analyzing the scientific literature, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that the genre of review in game journalism does not correspond to the genre with the same name in traditional media. It is argued that despite the rigid framework of the game industry, which assigns journalists primarily advertising functions, some of the reviewers seek to act primarily in the interests of game users, gamers. The review genre is analyzed on the materials of the rubrics of the game Internet portal “StopGame.ru”.
