The author of the article considers materials of the Russian Academy of Sciences magazine “Monthly works, using to benefit andentertainment” which was devoted to natural sciences. The article shows how Russian science of the XVIII century was included in European context and how Russian-European connections were elucidated on the pages of the magazine in question.

Abstract
The article is about the controversy, led by the A.E. Izmailov’s magazine “Blagonamerenniy” with the editor of the magazine “Nevsky zritel” W.K. Kuchelbecker. The controversy quickly escalated into personal insults. In the end, the relationship between Izmailov and Kuchelbecker was torn apart and the “Blagonamerenniy” ceased to be used by Kuchelbeckers’ friends for publications.

Abstract
The article deals with the publication of the journal of F.M. and M.M. Dostoevsky “Epocha” devoted to women’s labour. Through the prism of women’s labour authors of the journal consider the pressing question of women’s emancipation. They support the desire of women for independence, however, insist that the path to women’s liberation will be long and difficult because of the unpreparedness of the Russian society in the 1860s to such a new phenomenon as a separate and independent woman.

This article is about the Kiev social and political journalism of M.E. Koltsov. The factors by which the journalist had to hide his activities in Kiev in 1918 were analysed. Koltsov’s article during Kiev period “In the camp of Petlyura” that has never been introduced into academic circles so far is now published.

The article considers specifics of the Grossman’s story reflection in Russian emigrant press and concludes that “Everything flows…” was only regarded as a political essay. Particular attention is drawn to the controversy among the reviewers and to the range of issues raised in the dispute.

Abstract
The article studies the phenomenon of so called “shelved movies”. “Intervention” was supposed to be released by the 50th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. Its filming coincided with tragic events of 1968 in Czechoslovakia. The movie did not pass the barrier of censorship and was shelved for almost 20 years. There is an analysis of Soviet publications before the intended release (in 1967) and after it (in 1987). The article also shows, how it happened that anapology of revolution was seen as practically anti-Soviet piece of art, and how in fact it was achieved.

The article examines the history of the periodical during the “perestroika”, under the editorship of V.A. Korotich. The author proves that in spite of the widespread opinion regarding the editorial policy, the latter remained unchanged until 1987.

Abstract
The article covers public discussion that took place after the end of the II World War in Russian anti-Soviet émigré community. The deep contrariety between two émigré centers - Paris and New York - is being analysed as well as its original matter - the visit of Russian émigré group led by V.A. Maklakov to the Soviet embassy and the scandal this event aroused. The author of the article concludes that Russian émigré community was torn apart with deep dissent regarding its relation to the Soviet government. Although this dissent had different motives it reflected the change in the life of émigré community after the II World War.

Abstract
The article reviews various types of online editions such as online resources for reading enthusiasts and online libraries. User publications and comments on the works by N.G. Chernyshevsky are analysed. A conclusion is made that the novel “What is to be done?”, despite the recent decline of studying it in schools, is still a very well-known book. In the article the author also proposes and uses the full text search in online libraries as a method to study writer’s citation index.

The author pays main attention to expression part of the fictional name choice and its perception by opponents. Language game with pseudonyms of literary opponents is one of the types of speech aggression manifestation during journalist discussions.

The article based on archival materials deals with the history of the controversy about the “purity of a language” deployed in 1939 on the pages of “Literaturnaya Gazeta” between writer F. Gladkov and philologist D. Ushakov. The author reveals the ideological subtext of the discussion about orthoepy, analyses the essence of the mask of “man of the people” used by F. Gladkov and demonstrates the validity of antipurist position of D. Ushakov.

The article considers culturological aspect of “Russian idea” concept, one of the key concepts in I.A. Ilyin publicistic writings. That concept seems unthinkable to the author of “Our mission” out of the context of three esprit laws, of the three fundamental principles of human life and culture such as liberty, love and thingness.

The article is devoted to the analysis of speech standard communicative aspect. The importance of the speech exactness for reaching the effectiveness in the communication is studied. In the history of investigative journalism loudest and most resonant investigations were always the materials about the exposure of major financial figures and politicians that had an impact on the society. Thanks to one investigation which lasted for more than 25 years, the United States could protect the people from negative effects of tobacco confirming the fact that investigators can really protect citizens’ rights and improve the living conditions of many people.
