The function of ethnogenetic discourse in the poem “Ruslan and Lyudmila”

Abstract
The article analyzes the ideological component of A. Pushkin’s poem “Ruslan and Lyudmila”. It refers to the ethnogenetic discourse, which was relevant in Russian society of the 17th – 18th centuries. One of the channels for transmission of ethnogenetic discourse became the genre of the “Russian magic novel” (M. Chulkov etc.), with which the poem “Ruslan and Lyudmila” is associated. Pushkin borrowed from it samples of the protagonist’s name and turned “Yeruslan”/“Roksolan” into “Ruslan”. However, in Pushkin’s poem, the ethnogenetic discourse is subordinated not to a ideological, but to a purely artistic setting.
