Abstract

Visual communication is becoming not only a relevant subject of research by representatives of the humanities, but also a promising way to convey information to the mass audience due to such properties as speed of perception, universality (the ability to overcome language barriers), and effectiveness of impact. In such technologically developed countries as China, visual communication on television no longer supplements verbal information, but is a full-fledged way of informing and ideological influence. The article substantiates the need for a closer study of that area within the framework of theoretical studies of journalism, and describes the specific features of visual communication on Chinese television.
