Abstract
The article focuses on the academic activity of D.A. Milyutin in 1839-1850. The author tries to have an analysis of his unpublished works such as programs, notes, official and private letters covering studies of the history of Russian-Caucasus relations. The author shows the results of early attempts of setting up the official approach to the Caucasus military and political history studying in Russia.

The article discusses an early stage of development of the river transport of the Volga river basin. The focus is on management and staffing aspects of the state of river transport on the eve of the World War I. It investigates the reasons why river transport in the Volga basin did not cope with tasks of the wartime.

Abstract
In this article the history of the colony of Russian emigrants on Capri Island is presented, based on Prakhov’s memoirs from the archive of the Tretyakov Gallery. The main emphasis is laid on the activity of the Capri Propogandistic School and M. Gorky. Russian revolutionaries and representatives of intelligentsia were so socially active that local community and authorities got worried, in spite of the fact that Italians were loyal towards them.

The article discusses number, composition and activity of business class in Crimea in 1920, when the peninsula was controlled by general P.N. Wrangel’s army. The emphasis is on trading activities of entrepreneurs in the domestic market, as well as their role in export and import operations. The author reveals the connection between activities of entrepreneurs and the economic crisis in Crimea.

Abstract
The article analyzes the restoration of the monarchy in Russia projects which were formed in monarchist-legitimist movement in emigration. It presents an analysis of projects by A.G. Timrot, P.N. Krupensky, count V.A. Bobrinsky. The conclusion that the agricultural project of legitimist movement was the most liberal one in comparison with the projects of other monarchist organizations.

Abstract
The article discusses technical skills of the Red Army soldiers on the eve of the Great Patriotic war. It is shown that the fundamental fighting unit of the Red Army remained a soldier with an ordinary rifle, so the fighting capacity was largely dependent on the ability of a soldier to address to his rifle and to provide it with proper care. It is concluded that for various reasons technical skills of a soldier of the Red Army were insufficient, which was one of the reasons of defeats of the Red Army in the Soviet-Finnish war and at the beginning of the Great Patriotic war.

Abstract
The article discusses the problem of social adaptation of the Spanish children who came to the Soviet Union as a result of the Civil War in Spain. Very soon after evacuation a number of orphanages for Spanish children was opened in Soviet Russia and Ukraine. The author focuses on classroom curriculum, studies and other aspects of the everyday life.Soviet authorities couldn’t ensure equal conditions for all Spanish orphans. Some locations were not well enough prepared for the children,there was lack of the teaching materials, space for studies, professional teachers, clothes. The author comes to the conclusion that creating the system of children special orphanages was the main barrier for total assimilation of small Spanish children.

It discusses the ability of this rail system to implement mass military transportation. It examines the role of the military rail transport in ensuring the operations of the North-Western Front during the Soviet-Finnish War.

The article analyzes the organization of supply of the Red Army in1935-1941. The author describes changes of the supply system at that period. The research is based on documents of the Russian State Military Archives. The author depicts shortcomings in the organization of supply on the eve of the Great Patriotic War, and remarks, that military staffs of the Red Army have gained valuable experience in supplying troops.

Abstract
On the basis of documents of the National Archives of Sakha (Yakutia) and audio-visual memories collected in the framework of the historical-memorial project “Alban аat - 2015”, the article investigates the issue of forced labor mobilization of Churapchinsky collective farmers (kolkhozniks) for catching fish to supply the army and central regions of the USSR. Based on the analysis of memoirs, the author highlights the practice of adapting to the new conditions of life, eating habits, and production everyday life among farmers-migrants.

The article analyses one of the main kinds of N. Khrushchev’s political narrative - a scandal. Some examples of headline-making international events where N. Khrushshev played the main role demonstrate distinctive features and behavior acts of the Soviet leader. They are considered to be indicators of such a complicated communicative event as a scandal. The author comes to the conclusion about the definite degree of management of a scandal on the part of Khrushchev.

The article analyses the Russian and Latvian experience in conducting the state policy towards the institutionalization of Stalinism time memory. The point of author’s attraction is the difference between Russian and Latvian approaches and its causes. The author comes to the conclusion that these differences are based on the diverse objectives set by Russia and Latvia after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Abstract
The article discusses the interaction between historians and participants of the populist movement in the process of forming in the 1920s - 1930s Soviet historiography of the populist movement. It is based on the materials of the journal “Katorga i ssylka” and the Section for the study of social movements of the 1830s - 1870s of the Society of Former Political Prisoners and Exiles. The author outlines major issues that were raised by old revolutionaries in their critique of the works by historians of populist movement.
